What does a Dog Behaviourist do?
Behavioural challenges can affect everyday life for both dogs and owners, creating unnecessary stress for both. As a dog behaviourist, my role is to help you understand why the behaviour is happening and provide practical, solutions that support positive, lasting change.
A dog behaviourist works to identify the underlying causes behind unwanted or challenging behaviours, rather than simply correcting the symptoms. Behaviour can be influenced by many factors, including emotion, handling, environment, past experiences, genetics, frustration, fear, or lack of confidence.
Using ethical, reward-based methods, I help dogs to develop better coping strategies while supporting owners with clear guidance, practical management, and structured training plans.
Working together, we focus on improving communication, building confidence, and creating calmer, more balanced behaviour in real-life situations.

Did you know?
Dogs thrive when their needs are met and they have clarity on how we would like them to behave, they need kindness, consistency, rules, and boundaries.
We are the dog’s advocate; we understand how they feel.
By addressing the root cause, we can help restore a healthy and balanced relationship between dog and handler.

Behavioural Consultations £250
Protocols: Prior to consult we ask that the dog has recently been seen by a vet to check if there are any apparent underlying medical conditions which could be contributing to the alleged behaviour issues.
Stage 1 - Initial Enquiry
Initial enquiry starts with a comprehensive questionnaire. This provides me with extensive relevant background information about you and your dog.
I will visit you and your dog at your home or my training location. This will give me the opportunity to witness and classify the problem and demonstrate techniques to facilitate in the behaviour modification process.
Stage 2 Home Visit or Training Location
I will visit you and your dog at your home or convenient training location. This will give me the opportunity to witness the problem first hand and also enable me to show you some techniques to help in the behaviour modification. This normally takes in excess of 2.5 hours and may involve me using my dogs as stooges.
Stage 3 Written Report
I will prepare a full behaviour modification report.
This is yours to keep and will include a professional diagnosis of the issue, accompanied with workable solutions and training pathway.

What Our Clients Say
Hear from dog owners who have transformed their relationships with their dogs through our dog behaviourist consultations.
"Very pleased! We had a behaviour assessment for our Maggie 🐶 she would bark at every dog we saw on walks and we dreaded seeing other dogs in the park. After a few hours with Penny, Maggie was a complete different dog! She is much easier to manage on a walk and we are very grateful to Penny for helping us start our journey to a happier dog and owners. Thank you!"
"Penny is an absolute god send. I booked for behavioural consultations for both of my dogs. They both have their own behavioural issues- some similar, some different. Penny was able to suss both dogs out and figure out the reasoning for their behaviours. Penny was able to offer great help and advice on the day - down to using the correct tools and equipment and how to implement them. Afterwards, I received a detailed and comprehensive report on each of the dogs, going over the dogs backgrounds, their behaviour, why they’re responding the way they do and what I need to do to correct their behaviour going forward (all of which had been discussed on the day of the behavioural consult). We’re less than a week on, and I’m already seeing great progress. Penny continues to follow up afterwards and offers help and guidance where needed - it’s nice to not just be left alone afterwards to just get on with it!
I can’t thank Penny enough for the work she’s put in so far and continues to do."
"We came to Penny with so many issues, over bonding related mainly.
We now have our gorgeous Gus reassured that he doesn’t need to be sitting on our laps ALL the time, he has to wait for permission to sit with us.
The floor licking has all but stopped and we can eat our family meals while he enjoys his quiet time in a different room with his kong.
Still some work to do with lead training but we’ll get there.
The tips Penny gave us were so simple, I just needed her confidence to help me to help our gorgeous Gus become a little more dog and less human."
